Emergencies
PAIN, DISCOMFORT
If you experience pain, discomfort or discomfort with your orthodontic appliance, start by applying orthodontic wax to the area. You can also take a classic painkiller if necessary. If the pain persists or intensifies, contact us to assess the situation and consider a suitable solution.

RING PEELED
If a ring comes off, avoid handling it and contact our office as soon as possible. We will offer you an appointment to reattach it and avoid any complications in your treatment. In the meantime, if it remains attached to the wire, leave it in place. If it is completely detached, keep it and bring it with you when you go to the doctor.

END OF THREAD IRRITATING
If a thread protrudes and irritates your cheek or gum, you can try to cover it with orthodontic wax to reduce the discomfort. If the discomfort persists, contact our office to arrange an appointment to adjust or cut the end of the wire. In an emergency, a general dentist can also temporarily relieve the situation by cutting off the injured part.

BROKEN RESTRAINT
If our practice is closed and you have a problem with your orthodontic appliance, any dentist, even not specialized in orthodontics, can relieve you by cutting or grinding the injurious part of your appliance. You can then call us and we will arrange a meeting to resolve the issue.

TRAUMA
If you have a shock or fall that has affected your teeth or orthodontic appliance, contact us immediately. Depending on the severity of the trauma, an emergency consultation may be required. In the meantime, if a tooth seems to be moving or painful, avoid touching it and apply a cold compress to reduce swelling.
